Senior Partner to retire

Dr Fielding retires at the end of April

Having been a GP Partner at Royal Well Surgery since 1993 and having had the privilege of being in practice in Cheltenham for the last 27 years, I have decided it is time to retire.

During my 27 years it has been a privilege to have met and looked after so many people. Having guided the practice from its original site at 1 Royal Crescent in the centre of town to our current location here at St Paul’s Medical Centre, I can certainly say that I have seen many changes in health care policy throughout the years. Having spent time as a GP trainer for 18 years I have guided many doctors through their final years of training and many of them now are playing important lead roles in the health care community locally.

I also enjoyed 25 years on Gloucestershire Local Medical Committee helping to support high-quality general practice in Gloucestershire and protecting health care funding and patient services, both within primary care and at our two main hospitals in the county.

With my two boys now grown up and my wife semi-retired it is time to pass on the mantle of responsibility to the next generation of doctors in the practice and I am delighted to be able to leave the surgery knowing that the Partnership is well provided for and in excellent hands.

I wish to thank all my colleagues for their loyalty and support throughout the years and wish all our patients a healthy and hearty future. I plan to step down from practice at the end of April this year and look forward to exploring my next great adventure in lifeā€¦ whatever that will be!

Thank you again for making my career in medicine and in general practice such a rewarding one.
